About Me
Background
📍 Current Location: College Station, Texas 🇺🇸
🗺️ From: Singapore 🇸🇬, Dubai 🇦🇪, India 🇮🇳
Education
I am currently in grad school (since Fall 2024), pursuing Master's in Computer Science at Texas A&M. Previously (2017-21), did my undergrad in Computer Science + Statistics at the National University of Singapore. Also, spent the Spring 2020 semester at Georgia Tech as an exchange student.
A few notable courses that I enjoyed were: Information Retrieval, Data Visualization [TAMU], Natural Language Processing, Database Systems [GT], Software Engineering, Big Data Systems [NUS].
Work Experience
I worked as a Data Engineer at PropertyGuru (2021-24). Here, my responsibilities included:
- Building systems for supporting data pipelines for various teams. Examples: YAML-based Reverse ETL pipelines, Data Quality Framework
- Maintaing data infrastructure (security, governance, costs). Example: GCP (IAM, Data Catalog, BigQuery, Composer, Billing, Storage), AWS (Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, OpenSearch, DocumentDB, DynamoDB), FiveTran
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and serving data products. Example: Data APIs for RecSys, Lead Insights, Property Valuation, etc.
Interests
- I like to learn/try out new tools and early-stage products (ie: ProductHunt)
- work on side projects that provide some positive value to me
- read about startups (how they built their product, their growth journey)
- spend some time investing (gamble with pump-and-dump penny stocks and options (primarily 0DTE SPY or 45DTE Mag 7) or discuss ideas for 'till death do us part' and growth stocks with my friends)
- playing games (open world - GTA, cinematic - Ghost of Tsushima, and planning/strategy - Cities Skylines)
- watching movies (especially movies adventure/sci-fi - Dune, Avatar, LotR, or satirical comedy - Tropic Thunder, Borat)
- And if I am feeling motivated, then a bit of strength training or Duolingo.
- Above all, I enjoy food (I try to contribute as a Google Local Guide) and travel (I don't post photos).
